First christmas market of the season in Värmland, Sweden.

Well, I think it's the first one: this weekend at Selma Lagerlöf's Mårbacka near Sunne.
Lots of crafts of wood, straw, birch bark, felt, ceramics etc etc. And traditional food and
delicacies arenot lacking either. Tomorrow last day at Mårbacka, but there will be
a lot of christmas markets in november . . .. .. . ..

Cologne's old pots and more (grey/blue) ceramics.. .. ..

During our holiday on the Moselle I visited the 'Keramikmuseum Westerwald',
a bit north of Koblenz. A lot of ceramics are made in that area during ages
and in different companies, still today.
I remember from my childhood the grey/blue 'Keulse potten' for pickling of
sauerkraut and beans. Now I use these pots for my geraniums inside and outside,
very decorative!
The musuem and the area are wellworth a visit! I bought some old and some
new 'Westerwald keramik', also for our antiques and curiosa shop the Cup and Saucer.

Lovely flowery at the Cup and Saucer in Värmland!

Between the clouds and rain the sun is shining and it's getting better!
The flowers and plants in pots and borders flourish in all kinds of colours;
it's good to stay in our b&b or campsite.

A wealth of lace and ribbon in our antiques and curiosa shop the Cup and Saucer.

Several weeks ago I bought a few bags with pieces of lace and ribbon.
I couldnot see much of what I bought and there is some scrap also,
but for a lover there is enough to enjoy. What to think of ribbon
with cups and saucers (never seen!)?! So, not everything is going
to the shop . . .. . . ...

Being a tourist ourselves for a day in the beautiful Värmland.

Yesterday we drove around via Sunnemo, Filipstad, Hagfors and back
through Sunnemo again. We enjoyed the pastoral landscape with lots of
wild flowers along the roads and in the fields. It was also nice to see the
remains of the old iron mines north of Filipstad, near Nordmark.
In Nordmark they have a lovely old wooden church too.

Swedish and Norwenian guests for the Accordion Festival and a Belgian artist . .. .

Very nice to have all kinds of guests around us in the b&b and on our campsite
of the Cup and Saucer in Ransäter and . .. . wonderful weather too!!!

When the Norwenian and Swedish guests were to the festival yesterday afternoon,
a Belgian gentleman came to me for a night on the campsite.
Later on, talking with him and his wife, he appeared to be an artist and
then I already got my first birthday present of my husband: a book of Paul de Roy
about Lapland with beautiful paintings and descriptions of his hand, very happy!

2 lovely old Swedish products for our antiques and curiosa shop the Cup and Saucer.

This week I bought some nice old things in Nora, including this tureen
made by Gustavsberg (not far from Stockholm) about 100 years ago,
isnot it lovely?!
And then you also can find here well made objects of tin,
like this beautiful decorated tankard made by Svenskt Tenn.

Cup and Saucer antiques and curiosa shop in Retro magazine!

I bought a Retro magazine this week, a nice Swedish magazine with a lot of information,
nostalgia and colour! And this one with 'sommarloppisar'  (secondhand's during the summer):
we are there too!!

The first homemade jam of the season a.o. for the breakfast table of our b&b guests.

As said, we started with the first our garden supplies,
so that became a rhubarb jam with a touch of ginger, nice and fresh!
Of course we use the jams ourselves, we give them away to family and friends,
there is always a homemade jam on the table for our bed and breakfast guests
of the Cup and Saucer and we also sell some in our shop.

Home made babouschka's for our antiques and curiosa shop the Cup and Saucer.

Well, I just made two of them in between. I first tried one for myself and
that one was nice. I always liked babouschka's, we have some wooden sets
in our house. This pattern I found in a French magazine.
But now I put the sewing machine away, more time for outdoors!
And for example making jams, I can already start with the rhubarb.

Several nice and interesting guests in our Bed and Breakfast the Cup and Saucer in Värmland.

Always pleasant to receive different guests! Now we have a guest who is looking
for precious stones, for instance: amethyst. He was on a hill to cut stone and
last night he sorted them. At home he cuts the stone to beautiful jewelry.
And then, when he has left on thursday, we 'll prepare the b&b rooms for our
'Ransätersstämman' guests. That's a lovely international folk music and -dance festival!

Buying for our antiques and curiosa shop the Cup and Saucer.

This week I did a loppistour with my sister-in-law Marieke.
That's rather popular here in Värmland: drive around along several
barns, houses and shops with secondhand stuff.
And I found some things for our shop as well as for myself.

The miniature cup and saucer of
English bone china stays here:
at the Cup and Saucer!

Worked in the garden and on the 'jordkällare' (nature basement).

This is still the yellow time, like I call it. Yellow flowers everywhere:
cultivated and wild flowers!  Our sister in law just told us that you can
eat dandelions, well, we have a lot of food on our land then!
And I'm glad I 'did' the 'jordkällare' today, took away old raspberry-poles
and grass. Looks nicer each day at the Cup and Saucer in Ransäter!

Plucky guests in our Bed and Breakfast the Cup and Saucer in Värmland!

They slept well last night and that was deserved! They cycled 190 kilometers yesterday!
And this morning, after a hearty breakfast, they were preparing their bicycle tour to Norway.

Flyer distribution of our Cup and Saucer in Ransäter, Värmland

Each year at the start of the season we are driving to several places around
us to provide the tourist offices with our flyers.
Today it was Sunne because we always try to combine on such trips and
we had i.a. to visit our accountant there.
It's  wonderful situated at the large lake 'Fryken', where holidaymakers will
swim again shortly.

Officious 'antik & loppis' round during the Ascension weekend!

For several years already we had the 'antik & loppis' round during the Ascension
weekend and these were always nice days with many interested people.
And now many sellers will open their doors again, unfortunately without advertisement.
But, when you are reading this, you know we are open friday 15 och saturday 16 May
and we have a lot of 'new' old things in our shop the Cup and Saucer
in Ransäter, so: be welcome!!!

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

Work on our land in Ransäter, Värmland today.

And we have a lot of land here! Only around our house we have a border
with ornamental plants and I already did that for the first time this season.
Today I did the heavier stuff, at least a part of it.
On the picture you see the part in front of our shop/cafe the Cup and Saucer.
On the rectangle we had a greenhouse till last summer, but today we planted
2 cherry trees there. The stems you see around that are raspberry plants and
looking well you can see the lupines coming. I'll make a picture of the same
area in about a month, nice to see!

Wonderful first day of our antiques/curiosa/flea shop/cafe the Cup and Saucer!

Yes, it was really a good start today with nice and interested customers!
And several of them tasted and appreciated our homemade pies,

specially our new recipe: Linzer Torte, mmmmm!!

Everything outwards again, wonderful!

Signs, tables, chairs, lights etc out again for the new season
of the Cup and Saucer in Ransäter, Sweden!
Hopefully there will be people around the tables of our shop/cafe
already at
the end of the week, tasting coffee/tea and our homemade pies!
